Reflections for a New Year

Day 6 - Be Healthy

We are made in the image of God,
Our lives and personalities diverse and unique;
Our bodies an array of shapes and sizes;
Our roles and positions, many and different.
But we share a common humanity,
Our divine makers mark.

So do not let the person you are,
Become crushed by unwarranted demands;
Conformed to imposed expectations,
At the expense of your true self and wellbeing.

Our human frame is not to be abused or neglected,
But that which God ordained for us to inhabit,
Chosen as the vessel in which he would walk this earth;
Made sacred by the life it sustains.

So cultivate healthy habits,
Seek rhythms of grace and wellbeing.
Care for yourself; nurture your humanity,
That you may nurture the humanity of others.
