Reflections for a New Year

Day 4 - Be Caring

Each year brings its measure of hopes and expectations;
Tasks to be accomplished;
Opportunities to be grasped;
Challenges, concerns and aspirations.

But pause to consider,
Not simply what might or must be done,
But who will be affected,
And whose hopes might be abandoned,
In order that yours can be fulfilled.

Do not allow the needs of others,
To become a reason to avoid or dismiss them,
You do not need to have a solution,
In order to stand alongside in their struggle.

Kindness will often cost you little,
Yet can be a gift of great worth,
Don’t let kindness become forgotten,
In the rush to achieve and succeed.
