(Alternatives: Genesis 11:1-9)

Pentecost may not seem the most obvious occasion to focus on the world of work, but there are a number of connections that might usefully be forged and considered. The Psalm is a celebration of the forces and processes in nature, echoing the original creation narrative which speaks of the Spirit of God as the agent through which things come into being. It is through human work and endeavour that we better understand the world around us and participate in the cycles, experiences and provision that the Psalm-writer celebrates. The Psalm is an invitation to appreciate the works of God, human endeavour when rightly experienced, is a practical and physical opportunity to do the same.
