Those who work in schools
Head and assistant teachers in nursery, primary and secondary schools; school dinner, secretarial, caretaking, cleaning, nursing and lollipop staff; devisers and makers of all kinds of learning tools; school governors, budget providers and administrators; workers with children having special needs; class helpers and student counsellors; playgroup and crèche workers; school inspectors and educational advisers.
Living Christ; you were called Good Teacher, embraced children and mentored disciples in the ways of your Kingdom. We commend to You those who fulfil similar roles in our world today and give you thanks for all those whose endeavours enrich the development and growth of their fellow human beings. In the midst of the red-tape and regulation that has for so many come to dominate this role, may they find rest and fulfilment in knowing that the task which they perform is one that is ordained and purposed by the creator of all humanity.
AMEN
Regular prayer for the world of work can be a significant feature in Sunday services. ICF
seeks to provide a variety of resources to help those who prepare these. Prayer of this nature
is important because:
Each week, we highhlight different groups of workers and encourage our members and followers to particularly
pray for people who work in that sector. We also encourage local churches to include regular prayers for the world of work
As you pray, Consider what might be said in the context of thanksgiving, confession and
intercession, both for the workers concerned and for those present.
