Those who work in shipping and on the high seas
Coast guards, harbour masters, pilots and those who protect our coastal borders. Lifeboat crews, RNLI support staff and manufacturers of marine safety equipment. Shipbuilders, boatbuilders, naval architects and marine engineers. Fishermen, Members of the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and ship’s crews. Tug boat and tender crews, those who work in the offshore oil and gas industry
God who in Christ journeyed with disciples through a storm on Galilee and at whose command the wind and the waves were stilled, we pray for all those who face the challenge and danger of travel on the high seas. Your word reminds us that the power of Oceans is a reflection of Your greater power; so may all who wrestle with waves, tides and currents give glory to their creator and find security and comfort in His living presence. Through Christ our Lord
AMEN
Regular prayer for the world of work can be a significant feature in Sunday services. ICF
seeks to provide a variety of resources to help those who prepare these. Prayer of this nature
is important because:
Each week, we highhlight different groups of workers and encourage our members and followers to particularly
pray for people who work in that sector. We also encourage local churches to include regular prayers for the world of work
As you pray, Consider what might be said in the context of thanksgiving, confession and
intercession, both for the workers concerned and for those present.
