Those who work for charitable organisations
Remunerated and voluntary staff of major charities. Staff of the Charity commission, charity lawyers and advisors. Staff of charity shops, collection services etc. People who act as trustees of charities and charitable trusts; those who work for charitable organisations, particularly those who face danger and hardship through their work. Fundraisers and charity collectors
Loving God; friend of the poor; protector of the widow and the orphan, we remember that our understanding of charity is rooted in our understanding of your love; and that you called us to reflect our love for You, by loving our neighbour as ourself. So we pray for all those who are engaged in the work of charitable institutions; forgive us in our world of regulations and strategies if we have made their task more complex and regimented than it needs to be, and help us all, whether employee, volunteer or donor to never let duties and roles become an end in themselves, but always a true expression of commitment and compassion. Through Jesus Christ our Lord AMEN
Regular prayer for the world of work can be a significant feature in Sunday services. ICF
seeks to provide a variety of resources to help those who prepare these. Prayer of this nature
is important because:
Each week, we highhlight different groups of workers and encourage our members and followers to particularly
pray for people who work in that sector. We also encourage local churches to include regular prayers for the world of work
As you pray, Consider what might be said in the context of thanksgiving, confession and
intercession, both for the workers concerned and for those present.
